DEDICATED TO THE HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT OF
CHILDREN – YOUTH – FAMILIES
OUR COMMITMENT TO TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
NOYFSS would like to acknowledge that we are on the unceded and ancestral lands of the Syilx peoples of the Okanagan Nation.
We recognize the devastation that colonization has caused to the Indigenous families and their culture. We are committed to be a support in the healing of children and families and acknowledge their inherent right to care for their own people in their own way and that Indigenous people never gave up their lands.
We are committed to stand with Indigenous families and community partners.
NOYFSS has adopted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights on Indigenous Peoples as a guideline for reconciliation.
Programs
NOYFSS Programs are developed and administered through our community-based services. We work closely with a number of organizations including the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), School District 22 and Children and Youth with Supported Needs (CYSN).
NOYFSS programs are mainly accessed through referral with services to assist Families, Youth and Children. All programs are run on the basis of education, counseling and support.
Programs include: ADHD Support, Family Services, Supported Needs Programs, Indigenous Services, Youth Services and School Based Outreach.
Groups
NOYFSS is proud to offer a wide range of non-funded and funded educational and skill-building groups for children, youth and adults. These educational groups are offered to the community at no cost to the participant and ultimately strengthen families and create healthy and safe communities.
Groups are run on a regular basis throughout the year and group topics are always changing. Some examples of groups we offer include Adolescence Coping with Emotion, Active Parenting, Young Parents Program, Parent Teen Conflict and more.
