NOYFSS Youth Services
NOYFSS offers several programs for youth and their families. Some programs are offered to the family, others to the youth as an individual.

Re-Direct Program
Program Description: Court-ordered service for youth aged 12-18. Goals established by Youth Probation Officer. General program goals are to reduce criminal behaviors and increase pro-social behaviors. CFCs work with persons served to achieve these goals in a manner which promotes the individual’s personal strengths and preferences.

Intensive Support and Supervision Program
Program Description: This program is similar to the Re-Direct Program, but more intensive, and is intended for higher risk offenders. The contracts are usually for 4 hours per week, and up to a maximum of 2 years.
Child and Family Counselors and persons served may take part in:
- residence, education, and curfew checks
- life skills education
- parent-teen mediation
- secure community work-service placements
- securing employment
- counseling
- connection to other services as needed
To access this program, participants will need a court order and a referral from MCFD Integrated Youth Services.
Independent Living Program
Program Description: Support for youth transitioning from MCFD care to independent living. Counsellors assist persons served to develop independent living skills.
Activities with the counsellor may include:
§ finding appropriate housing
§ learning general life skills
§ finding employment
§ learning how to deal with landlords
§ budgeting assistance
This program also provides a group component. Participants attend a group once a month where they participate in cooking a meal and enjoy educational presentations from the community.

Youth Agreement Assessment & Youth Agreement Support
Program Description: For youth between 16 and 19 years of age (or a teen parent under age 16), who may be:
- Homeless
- In need of protection
- Lacking adult caregivers
- Affected by behavioral or mental health issues
- Affected by significant drug and alcohol issues
Youth Agreements are intended to reduce risks and help transition youth to independence. Activities in this program are similar to those in the Independent Living Program. This program begins with a 2 week assessment of eligibility, willingness, and motivation. If a Youth Agreement is approved by the MCFD social worker, a NOYFSS counsellor will be assigned until the Youth Agreement is no longer in place or the person served turns 19.

Parent-Teen Conflict Program
Description: For families who are experiencing a high degree of conflict in parent teen relationships.
Goals aimed at reducing family conflict are developed between NOYFSS counselors and family members. Often these goals revolve around improving communication and clarifying boundaries/roles.
This program consists of Individual Service, a Group Program and a Support Group for parents and teens.

Parent/Teen Conflict
Support Group
Description: An ongoing support group which is available to parents who have completed the Parent/Teen Conflict group program.
Program participants must be willing to learn about and practice non-violent child-rearing techniques that, according to current developmental theory, support healthy individual and social growth.
